TXTPower pushes reasonable demands in NTC-brokered talks
TXTPower convenors Anthony Ian Cruz, Trixie Concepcion, Ana Gabriela Celestial and Raymond Palatino went to the National Telecommunications Commission today in what was supposed to be a public hearing on the consumer group’s complaint against Globe’s price hike for unlimited texting.
The hearing did not push through as scheduled. NTC Commissioner Abraham Abesamis instead announced that the Commission will attempt to settle the issues amicably between Globe and TXTPower. If the attempt fails, the hearings will then proceed.
Thus, in separate, closed-door meetings with Globe lawyers and TXTPower convenors, NTC sought talking points from both parties.
In the close-door meeting, TXTPower convenors offered this reasonable, minimum demand: That Globe restore the previous rates of P15 for one day, P25 for two days, and P50 for five days alongside the P15 Daytime, P10 Night Time and the other new choices. The old rates should replace the P20, P40 and P80 for one, two and four days, respectively. If Globe agrees with this demand, we will immediately withdraw the complaint and lift the boycott.
The NTC immediately informed Globe lawyers about our minimum demand.
The NTC, Globe and TXTPower have agreed to meet again on Feb. 14. We hope Globe accepts our suggestion as a show of good faith and respect for their subscribers. Besides, the old rates helped make Globe P11.8-billion richer in 2006.
In the meantime, we wish to point out that the nation is waiting for the NTC to enforce its orders against Globe in accordance with its mandate and powers.
What should we do now?
We must continue the protests especially our boycott of Globe services and products. Our protests help keep the pressure on Globe to respect consumer rights and welfare, and on NTC to do its job as telecom regulator including the enforcement of its orders.
We call on all Globe subscribers who availed of Unlimitxt25 and Unlimitxt50 on January 31, 2007, and whose subscriptions were abruptly cut to email us about their experience.
We also want to get your feedback about Globe’s non-compliance or defiance of the NTC orders of Feb. 5 and Feb. 7. Email us your stories of how Globe customer service staff explained the company’s non-compliance of the NTC order, and why they are still implementing the new and higher rates.
On Feb. 14, we invite you a special Valentines Day event at the NTC. Details will be announced later.
Folks, the fight is not yet over. We must continue to fight until we get the respect consumers deserve to get from Globe and the NTC.

TXTPower / February 9th, 2007, 7:50 pm
feb 14 is still too long for those barely making ends meet. and like tinka, i am keeping both my fingers and toes crossed.
what kaya reasons why hindi natuloy ang hearing… hindi kaya ka kutchaba ang NTC and Globe para mapagod tayo sa ating protesta and pang hinaan ng loob?
pipo / February 9th, 2007, 7:51 pm
wag cna pang hinaan ng loob ang mga tao
anu ba puede namin gwin dito sa cebu habang wla pang chapter?
tiNka / February 9th, 2007, 8:13 pm
sana taga cebu ako para makatulong mabuo ang chapter… eh kaso from bohol kasi ako…
pipo / February 9th, 2007, 9:03 pm
does that mean that the new rates stay until Feb.14? What did Globe say about our demand?
Globe’s CSRs say are parroting what Globe bigwigs are saying that they can’t just cut off the service of those who are already “enjoying” the “benefits” of the new rates. I told them that we are definitely NOT enjoying any supposed benefits. Napipilitan lang kami.
tiNka, shall we form TXTPower Cebu?

Hi Guys, while our complaint is still up for NTC decision by Feb20 (yes, Feb20. Feb14 is just d presentation of demands/counterdemands), we encourage you to please keep up the fight by doing d following:
1) continuously remind ur friends, family, schoolmates, etc to avoid using any globe service as much as possible
2)use online txtn services like chikka to spread d boycott call
3) email us d current status of globe usage in ur area (in cebu, bohol, etc) We know we are already havn a great effect, given d stance of d Globe officers at d meeting. We hope we can get more concrete reports from you guys.
Any more creative ideas is most welcome
TXTPower / February 10th, 2007, 2:09 am
In d hearn yest, Globe officials r claiming dat d old Unlimitxt scheme was just a ‘promo’. There were many advertisements in print & on TV where Globe actually declared d Unlimitxt as a permanent feature already.
If any of you guys have the time to search over your old news papers of last year, we would appreaciate it if someone can help us find any ad where Globe declared the Unlimitxt a permanent feature.
We will give this to the NTC as proof of Globe’s deception.
TXTPower / February 10th, 2007, 2:14 am
usage in bohol as far as my friends are concerned is down significantly. the itch to go back to SUN is quite prevalent. given the way globe is reacting, it’s just a matter of time before that happens.

jobert / February 10th, 2007, 1:28 pm
Napakalungkot na ng cellphone ko!!! Wala na ng nagtetext sa akin!!! hindi na nag-aunli. It’s a good thing that they are following the boycott. only 1/4 of the globe sim base ang nag-eenjoy ng unli. They are mostly yong big time na kayang-kaya ang 20/day

mahirap na, mamaya biglang mag-heads up yung IT department nila
ang lungkot ng cellphone ko =(
malakas kutob ko dadaanin lang yan sa delay tactics, then the next thing we know majority na just accepted it as a fact of life.
concerned lang ako dito though:
From http://newsinfo.inquirer.net/breakingnews/infotech/view_article.php?article_id=48459
The operator said the NTC has affirmed years ago that the text messaging service was a deregulated service under NTC Memorandum Circular 14-7-2000. This authorizes carriers to fix their own rates for deregulated services. They only need only notify the NTC of their new rates but do not require the agency’s approval.
Di kaya masasabit tayo dyan?

baka biglang baguhin ng IT yung website nila.

Ay sorry, di nasama to:
just wondering sa news dito:

May leverage ba sila dahil dito?

FANTASTIC research rrroydz and tiNka. As tiNka sez, it can’t get any clearer than that. For good. As in permanent, no longer just a promotion.
Let’s see Globe try to worm their way out of this one.
tiNka, i’ll be sending you email with my contact info.
hreynes / February 10th, 2007, 6:43 pm
yes, but consumers have the right to be informed, and besides calling it a “permanent” offer was (still is) the reason why people are upset and feel that they’ve been cheated and tricked.
BTW, i don’t think globe will take the offer:
P15/1day, P25/2days, and P50/5days with
P15/daytime, P10/night and the other new choices (txtplus, i presume), wouldn’t people just go for P15/day(24hrs)than P15/day-shift(8am-4:59pm)??
how about just having:
P15/8am-4:59pm
P10/10pm-8am
P25/2days
P50/5days
and the new txtplus offer (i don’t think people use that anyway)
just a suggestion.
aRC / February 10th, 2007, 6:54 pm
i think aRC has a point. the pluns aRC suggested don’t leave consumers confused. The plans are clear, distinct options.
Any other reactions?
hreynes / February 10th, 2007, 8:58 pm
aRC, thanks for the suggestion. We hope Globe executives (or their proxies) are browsing through our website.
Anyway, we are practically asking Globe to redraw their Unlimitxt plan: maintain the old rates and provide new choices. The stress: maintain the old rates.

neolanzer / February 12th, 2007, 12:52 pm
lol. ganyan talaga, kailangan nila ng mga sponsors
aRC / February 13th, 2007, 4:20 am
if NTC couldn’t/wouldn’t give Globe some sort of penalty for not obeying the suspension order given last feb 5 then it just tells us one thing. NTC is useless and should be abolished since its basically powerless and just consumes our taxes.
lufet / February 13th, 2007, 6:57 pm
i hope na ibalik na ang dating rates ng globe dahil sobrang mahal eh! di naman sila nalulugi even with the old rates! too much consumerism! i hope that we, as consumers will fight for our rights! kaya abusadoa ang globe kasi they are aware that we are not reactive even if they impose higher rates.. sa states sobrang reactive ng consumers kaya if they are not satisfied with a product, they can always file a lawsuit and if they have a point, they win. furthermore, ok kasi ang systema ng gobyerno dun! walang sabwatan!
