TXTPower calls NTC, “Globe’s doormat”, says at least 1-M have switched to Globe rivals Sun and Smart

Lakas manggoyo ng Globe Consumer group TXTPower today lambasted the National Telecommunications Commission for its non-enforcement of orders issued on Feb. 5 and Feb. 7 enjoining the Globe Telecom to “hold in abeyance” its price increase for unlimited texting services which started exactly one month ago today.

The group also said its boycott drive against Globe was a success.

“The NTC should be ashamed of itself because of its inability and failure to enforce the agency’s orders and for showing to consumers nationwide that Globe Telecom could get away with non-compliance or defiance in the face of such orders,” said Anthony Ian Cruz, the group’s spokesperson.

NTC Commissioner Abraham Abesamis issued an order on Feb. 5 directing Globe to suspend its price hike pending resolution of the TXTPower complaint filed on Feb. 1. Two days later, the NTC en banc issued a show-cause and cease-and-desist order but Globe snubbed it and continues maintain its increased prices to this day.

“It appears that the NTC is considered a mere doormat by Globe which the company can step on as it pleases,” said Cruz.

TXTPower also bared today of a continued exodus of Globe subscribers to its rivals Smart and Sun.

“Initial reports from industry sources reveal that Sun and Smart are enjoying abnormally high numbers of new SIM activations since Feb. 1 when Globe implemented its price increase. We foresee more will do so if Globe keeps a hardline stand and refuses to rollback prices,” said Cruz.

Cruz said that “Globe cannot claim it is not affected by the boycott because it will take the company four to six month to find out exactly how many Globe subscribers abandoned their Globe SIMs. We can only surmise from abnormally high SIM activations in the Smart and Sun networks that Globe subscribers that they do not favor the price hikes implemented by the Ayala telco.”

“The Globe boycott was a success,” said the TXTPower spokesperson.

Industry sources said that about one million Globe subscribers have joined the Smart and Sun networks in response to the price hike.

one million and growing. it has started and continues to grow. this is what i call the globe exodus. now they will pay the price for ignoring their subscribers.

hreynes / March 2nd, 2007, 7:33 pm

I agree txtpower but i think you are only poiting those new smart sim users. Actually smart has 26milion users whch means from 22.9M to 26M as of now. About 3.5 new users are added. Not only at least 1M are leaving globe but 3.1M switched to smart alone!

jobert / March 2nd, 2007, 8:02 pm

It doesn’t necessarily follow that all Smart’s new subs are transferees from Globe.

But 1M is still a significant number. Enough to get Globe’s attention

hreynes / March 2nd, 2007, 8:56 pm

Globe expects that when it increased its unli price it could earn big profit if at least 60% wil subscribe to unli since the increase on rates is about 100% higher than d unlimitxt. Unfortunately evrythng is a SETBACK for them! Autoload sales are dropping

jobert / March 2nd, 2007, 9:09 pm

Wala bang eyeball ang TXTPower? Birahin na natin itong Globe! Pasabugin na!

txterslab / March 2nd, 2007, 10:11 pm

hey texter, as my friend tinka says, chillax dude. haha, i like your energy level.

we’re actually doing that. tingnan mo, mas malakas ang effect ng pag boycott natin kesa pag-rally. di pa nakakapagod.

just in case anybody’s curious, so far my sun line is very good. i’ve been asking friends who’ve had sun lines for more than 2 years and they say they’ve seen improvements in the service. looks like i got in at right time.

mag sun na tayo.

hreynes / March 2nd, 2007, 10:18 pm

@hreynes
hows sun gprs/3g? free ba o magkano?

aRC / March 3rd, 2007, 12:12 am

Buti nga Globe… If Im a US Military Service men I will call for a strike team to terminate every cellsites that they have or even launch a tactical nuclear missile to Globes HQ and let those guys know what the hell is Silent Spring! Nuclear Winter you Globe bastard especially to those guys who implemented this UNLITXT promo. You guys are pigs!!!! I HAVE THREE WORDS FOR YOU GLOBE PIGS!!! PUTANG-INA-MO!!!

jerk_shop / March 3rd, 2007, 10:11 pm

Whoah! jerk_shop. cool ka lang. Although I can’t say I don’t agree with the sentiment.

It gives me great pleasure that I’m no longer using my Globe sim. My battery now actually lasts up to 3 days. Pero sa tingin ko, as more and more of my friends and business associates shift to Sun, I’ll go back to being a heavy texter. In the meantime, I’ll let my fingers relax.

hreynes / March 3rd, 2007, 10:54 pm

is this it, txtpower?

hreynes / March 5th, 2007, 7:13 pm

Txtpower bakit wala paring update tungkol sa war against Globe? Is this the end? Are we going to suffer? Is this the last thing that were going to here from txtpower?

jerk_shop / March 5th, 2007, 8:28 pm

is txtpower abandoning us? i don’t even get a reply when i text anthony.

whatever, i’m on a personal mission. marami na rin akong na convince to get a sun sim. napupuno na rin ang fonbuk ko sa sun numbers. txtpower or no txtpower i’m continuing the fight my own way.

hreynes / March 5th, 2007, 8:50 pm

Patience is a virtue. TXTPower is preparing for something this week, and this entails effort and concentration among us convenors. Please bear with us.

Here’s a concrete thing you could do: Gather fifteen of your friends and ask them to be part of a TXTPower chapter in your school/community/workplace. TXTPower is open to all consumers who want to unite and act for our consumer rights and welfare, and for making technology work for the people. If they agree with this and we hope you do too, that’s the start of a TXTPower chapter.

You my also invite more people to visit the site regularly.

We value your continued support. Thanks!

TXTPower / March 6th, 2007, 1:25 am

dont you think that Globe did this for a reason?
Profit? im sure there is really behind this increase.. malay naten palampasin lang ang Election.. and they would bring back the old rates.. but its BS! to make your loyal subs abandon you..

i mean sobra na ang ginawa nila pasakit sa mga consumers nya.. amp! trust has been damaged for most of us subs..

skitzchen / March 6th, 2007, 2:45 pm

oweynj / March 6th, 2007, 5:58 pm

I just came from the sun shop in robinsons cebu city. they confirmed that they are experiencing an upsurge of prepaid sim purchases as well as new postpaid line applications.

The Sun shop was full so I started talking to people there and the prevalent sentiment is that they’re shifting from Globe.

hreynes / March 7th, 2007, 5:55 pm

I went to the sun shop at Ayala Center Cebu yesterday. I also observed the same as what hreynes said about the sun shop at Robinsons Cebu.

The sun shop was also full even though maliit lang ang lugar nila dito sa Ayala Center Cebu.

I a myself a globe subscriber. 7 Years sa Prepaid and going two years sa pospaid. I am going to cut my postpaid line on May 5, 2007 when my contract ends. I have two prepaid line that are still functioning.

I am planning to switch network na. Matigas ang globe.

ong76_win2 / March 8th, 2007, 8:02 am

I was in Ayala Cebu yesterday too but didn’t pass by the Sun shop there. I did pass by the Globe business center and noticed just a few people inside. I recall that their bus ctr is usually full. I guess that’s not really enough to form a conclusion but it is interesting to note, isn’t it?

Ong76, do you want to join us in forming TXTPower Cebu chapter?

hreynes / March 8th, 2007, 9:14 am

Tahimik nyo ah????

jobert / March 9th, 2007, 5:14 pm

Text nyo naman ako sa Sun ko. I switched to sun already. my number 09227090589. Textmates tayo ha?

jobert / March 9th, 2007, 5:16 pm

Nabasa ko ung statement ng TXTPower d2. I think the war is over guys we lost. Its a bitter defeat but who knows what will happen after the aftrmath of this war. Boys and Girls were going to withdraw but its not over yet we ourselves can start our own war against Globe! PUTANG INA!

jerk_shop / March 11th, 2007, 6:38 pm

guys, if ur reading newspaper or broadsheet particularly Phil. Star, there are no more BIG ads of Globe promoting their new UNLI…. for the past month only their KABABAYAN ads is in the print and u cant even sight the UNLI as part of their value added service (VAS)… this march only the 10 centavo/second is being ad in the front page and too small to notice dahil nasa baba ng page… until now i havnt resuumed subscribing their unli… MANIGAS cla… i’ve been a loyal Globe subscriber since their very first prepaid offering to the public but wont tolerate such unjust move… so i will join ur protest guys! i also hd convinced all my officemates who, majority of the dpartment are globe users to refrain subscribing to UNLI.. we already decided to briefly utilize SUN despite of their not so consistent connection service (Grrr!!!!). But guys don’t tell us to try SMART since we are already tired sacrificing their impolite customer service pipol (AROGANTE!)… Holdaper pa ng LOAD ang SMART.. kaya 25M na ang nahohold-up nila… anyway please update me regarding the issue coz i cant access TXTPOWER SITE in our office.. it is being blocked.. i don’t know what’s prohibited on your site.. cguro dahil INNOVE na ang internet service provider namin…

GOODLUCK TO ALL OF US & GOD BLESS!!!

rorafu / March 11th, 2007, 8:19 pm

while i agree that TXTPower’s deafening silence is a big letdown, i wouyldn’t say we have been defeated. the exodus of Globe subscribers like myself to Sun or Smart is a very significant victory.

Sun Cellular is the small player among the cellular service providers. They’ve been having problems and continue to have problems in connectivity and coverage. Then again, that’s where Globe and Smart came from. I remember when Globe only had coverage in Makati and when you move to Cubao, zero signal.

The good news is, Sun is improving. I’ve talked to friends who’ve been Sun subscribers for 2 years. They have seen improvements. Sun is ok here in Cebu City with a few exceptions where they have poor indoor coverage. I do now that Tagbilaran City and Bacolod City still have spotty coverage. There isn’t even a Sun shop in Tagbilaran. Let’s give them a break, at least for now.

We can start communicating with Sun, email their customer service about how united we are or were in our protest against Globe. Besides, the income generated by all their new subscribers will motivate them to further improve their service. At least I hope it will.

I believe that Globe will still regret their hardheadedness.

Jerkshop, we are winning the war.

hreynes / March 11th, 2007, 9:32 pm

Wala na talaga. Pinaasa lng tayo ng TEXTPower. Busy day sila doing for the next step.

jobert / March 12th, 2007, 4:11 pm

Wow!!! My pinasabog na nmn na cellsite and mga Rebelde!!!! heheheheh sge mga kaberks tama lang ang ginawa nyo!!!! Greedy kasi ang Globe!!!!

jobert / March 12th, 2007, 6:43 pm

It is rather disappointing that TXTPower seems to be doing nothing but I have to disagree with Jobert. Burning cellsites is not the answer.

Although the issues Jobert put on the table such as defective Sun simcards deserve every bit of attention we gave the Globe unli fiasco.

hreynes / March 12th, 2007, 6:55 pm

jobert / March 12th, 2007, 7:07 pm

Basahin nyo

NTC sets rules on consumer protection (Daw)????

http://newsinfo.inquirer.net/breakingnews/infotech/view_article.php?article_id=54148

jobert / March 12th, 2007, 7:08 pm

i think we should stop highlighting this nonsense about burning cellsites otherwise we might be branded as communist sympathizers.

hreynes / March 12th, 2007, 7:14 pm

Kakampi natin sila diba? Enjoy nalang tayo sa sun natin!!

jobert / March 12th, 2007, 7:15 pm

my apologies, jobert. on that i have to disagree. hindi natin sila kakampi. if ever txtpower says they are, i will renounce my membership.

hreynes / March 12th, 2007, 7:22 pm

passive offensive or passive resistance can be a very potent weapon against a corporation that has consistently disregarded the rights and concerns of the source of their income, their own subscribers. for example, the call to boycott globe and shift.

hreynes / March 12th, 2007, 7:26 pm

jobert / March 12th, 2007, 7:30 pm

anyway its a good news that Sun Cellular is going to launch 13 cellsites in Negros Occidental alone!!!

jobert / March 12th, 2007, 7:33 pm

“On the other hand, Globe consumers also have the choice: They could either junk their Globe SIM cards in protest and shift to Smart or Sun Cellular.” These last few lines by that article by Rey Gamboa define exactly what i mean by passive offensive or passive resistance.

And it looks like we have a politician on our side. Now if only TXTPower will get its act together and coordinate with Sonny Osmeña’s staff.

13 cellsites, thats cool jobert. your problem with the simcards just might disappear.

hreynes / March 12th, 2007, 7:38 pm

i agree with hreynes. violence is never a good idea thought it may sound like what Globe deserves in the first place. the reds are burning Globe’s towers because of revolutionary taxation and not because of the price hike. and that said taxation is used to buy more guns to terrorize the population and so the killing never stops.

pipo / March 13th, 2007, 12:06 am

Mabuti narin yong ginagawa ng mga rebels at least they are preventing Globe to gain more profit diba? They are doing direct impact to Globe.

are you a communist or NPA sympathizer, jobert? didn’t you read pipo’s post? the NPA probably don’t even know what TXTPower is. with comment’s like that, you might even provoke investigation to TXTPower by the military. thats the last thing we need.

please be responsible and don’t post comments like that in TXTPower. Kung ayaw mo na sa TXTPower, you are welcome to leave.

hreynes / March 13th, 2007, 8:31 am

Some developments:

TXTPower, through our lawyer, asked the NTC for an extension for us to carefully study the dismissal of our case based on the motion to dismiss of Globe. We will post the documents shortly, and we hope that you will read them and help us analyze and critique the points raised by Globe.

Senatorial candidate John Osmena informed us of the suit he filed at the Court of Appeals against the NTC. We have spoken with him regarding this matter. We are studying the possible impact of his suit to our cause.

The convenors are reading all your comments, even the inconsiderate ones, because we value your views as our supporters. If you find our actions too slow, we cannot do anything about it. We’ve been around since 2001, and we have confidence that fighting for consumer rights and welfare is our cup of tea. We feel that rushing things and taking on many issues and concerns all at once is counterproductive.

Thank you for understanding.

By the way, sino na sa inyo ang handang makapagtayo ng TXTPower chapter with at least 15 members?

TXTPower / March 13th, 2007, 11:27 pm

Hreynes..

Why climb mountains just to gain access to Globes CellSites. Its a modern world buddy, no World War II sabotage buddy. GPS Satellite, Access inside, Destroyer or any vessel that carriers cruise missiles and BOOM! You can pinpoint all Globe CellSites anywhere in the Philippines with an ease, enter all necessary parameters to guide the cruise missle to its destination then boom! or since you dont want violent actions why wont we use EMP Missiles. Heard of it? Its a pretty nice toy to disable all electronic and communication systems in a mile radius. Imagine that you’ll trigger that EMP loaded on a cruise missile then BUZZ! SYSTEMS OFFLINE!!!!

jerk_shop / March 14th, 2007, 12:51 am

Since you dont want violent actions. Well use The Silent War also known as the CyberWar, non-violent but it will teach those Globe Pigs a lesson on how to respect angry subscribers. I’ve heard that Globes System Security Protection Programs are tough to crack. Hmmmmmm….. and also I heard that SMART System is a doubt and stone-age kind of system. Imagine this they have 25M subsribers imagine the profit that they acquire everyday. Phew thats a pile of cash were talkn here. They can upgrade there systems in a matter of days or even weeks if they really want to, but since they are also PIGS expect misery and sufferings in sending, receiving, and that so called UNLIMITED TEXT SERVICE which take luck, tears, and even prayers just to activate it. SUN RULES!

jerk_shop / March 14th, 2007, 1:05 am

TXTPower, that’s all we are really asking for. Updates, not silence. We don’t mind if there’s nothing to report for the moment as long we can see something from you, something tangible such as a post from you. The thing about silence is that it gives the impression that nothing’s being done.

We’ve heard about the suit filed by John “Sonny” Osmeña and have been wondering what’s your take on that. Now we know. I for one appreciate the feedback.

jerk_shop. Wow! Talk about high tech response. I guess technology has improved leaps and bounds since Desert Storm. Now if only we have our own inventory of ElectroMagentic Pulse missiles or navy ships packed with GPS guided SLCMs.

Seriously, I still have to say that’s not the way to do it. Let’s hit Globe (or any misbehaving telco) where it will hurt them the most. Profits. Its a simple equation, really. Less subscribers=less profit. Since these people worhip profit as their god, I believe that this will make them sit up and take notice faster than any cellsite burning.

hreynes / March 14th, 2007, 9:26 am

Yeah. Yon nga ang problema sa TEXTPower…NO UPDATES!!! Magpopost lang sila ng comments if we are criticizing them

jobert / March 14th, 2007, 10:13 am

And then this site is reduced to name-calling.

Oh wow.

redkinoko / March 14th, 2007, 12:38 pm

@jobert
I remember you saying on a previous post’s comment that you will not stoop down to the level of blowing up cellsites. Congratulations man - you’re eating your own bulldung.

redkinoko / March 14th, 2007, 12:42 pm

pangdennio1 / March 14th, 2007, 1:50 pm

Redkinoko, as usual your memory is narrow and faulty. It was I who said that we won’t stoop down to blowing up cellsites. Now who’s eating bullcrap? FYI, we do know how to police our own ranks but we can’t always control what anyone says here. Freedom of speech and all that. I’m sure you understand, don’t you? After all, if this was a draconian martial law society, we’d simply banish you from this site.

Jobert, red’s comments are what you get for your irresponsible statements endorsing blowing up Globe cellsites. Don’t give him the pleasure of laughing at us. I get sick when he does that.

Btw, don’t give us that crap about name calling. Please don’t insult our intelligence by insinuating you’re beyond that. I wonder what your reaction would be if somebody stole your hard earned money. It is hard earned, isn’t it?

hreynes / March 14th, 2007, 4:13 pm

So if it’s me calling you a ragpad, it’s insult. But when it’s txtpower calling NTC doormat, it’s what? A political statement?

Stole? Please, man. If it’s really stealing, NTC would be more rational than to dismiss the case. But it’s not, so there.

redkinoko / March 14th, 2007, 6:27 pm

try calling it the truth, red. you do know what that means don’t you? what else can you call someone who’s supposed to be a regulating body over an industry yet so willingly allows a player in that industry to tell them what they can and can’t do without so much as a peep?

that’s the whole point, NTC isn’t being rational. its like someody’s squeezing their balls so hard all they can wheeze is globe globe globe globe….

hreynes / March 14th, 2007, 6:58 pm

Wow!! Wow!!!! Guys read this!!!

Most Globe users will forcely switch to other networks immediately!! Ayan Globe tandaan nyo…The more profit you aspire the more persecution you can encounter!!

jobert / March 15th, 2007, 8:31 am

jobert / March 15th, 2007, 8:36 am

jobert, you are probably an NPA yourself. or maybe a communist.

the npa’s reasons for burning globe’s cellsites have nothing to do with uniltxt or reducing profit. haven’t you read pipo’s post in #40?

http://www.abs-cbnnews.com/storypage.aspx?StoryId=70180

Globe Telecom Inc., the telecom unit of Ayala Corp., said on Thursday it will offer beginning tomorrow unlimited texting promos that have been approved by the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC).

The country’s second largest mobile phone firm is not bringing back its “Unlimitxt” offer despite clamor from consumer group TXTPower to price unlimited text messaging service for P15 for one day, P25 for two days and P50 for five days.

Globe will instead offer three new services which will run for 30 days, starting March 16.

From 8 a.m. to 4:59 p.m., Globe prepaid subscribers can avail of one day of unlimited texting for P20 and two days for P40. Both offers come with a bonus of two three-minute calls.

Globe said the free call can only be availed within the subscription period, within 24 hours for the one day offer and within 48 hours for the P40 offer.

The expiry period for unlimited text is dependent from the expiry period of the remaining regular load.

The cellular firm will also be introducing a modified ‘Sulitxt’ pricing scheme on Friday.

Under “Sulitxt”, Globe prepaid subscribers can send 100 text messages to one another for P15.

The 100 text messages can only be used in one day. Unused “Sulitxt” will be forfeited after one day. Globe to Globe text messages beyond 100 will be charged regular rates.

“Sulitxt” will also be offered to Touch Mobile ™ subscribers who can send 75 SMS that can be used for one day for P10.

thanks for the information bauer. i have to agree with louie, though. my only regret is that bakit ngayon lang ako nag-shift to sun.

hreynes / March 16th, 2007, 12:18 pm

louiemsp / March 16th, 2007, 4:16 pm

We have no choice but to surrender buddies….. This Globe ass pisses me OFF!!!!

jerk_shop / March 16th, 2007, 9:37 pm

UNLITXT80 is now for 5 days. 16pesos/day lalabas pero ang mahal pa rin!

sauldejesus / March 17th, 2007, 8:10 am

the more i use my sun sim, the more i ask how could i have been blinded by Globe with their unimited text promotions?

Just compare.

Sa Sun P150 = 30days free texting Sun-Sun as well as 4hrs free calls.

And to think that’s just one of Sun’s plans.
How bout P150 for 1 week of unlitxting and calling.

Yan ang totoong sulitxt at sulitawag.

hreynes / March 17th, 2007, 9:15 am

Hindi eh ganon parin 4 days lang ang 80. Well ang bagong pakulo ng Globe is a solid evidence that Globe users are decreasing thats why they are consoling them to return to Globe….But does Globe new promo give a relief? What can you say TEXTPower?

jobert / March 17th, 2007, 12:22 pm

Guys read this!!!

http://uw2.abs-cbnnews.com/storypage.aspx?StoryId=54086

jobert / March 17th, 2007, 12:48 pm

Hmmmm…. I read the news link that jobert posted, says their that Chief Rivals SUN and SMART Telecomms have been spared for some reasons. What might be those reasons? Is it their economical offers for unlimited promos? Maybe? It could be a factor. Althought its a barbaric act to blow up a piece of multi-million equiptment. Maybe the folks from NPA are Globe Subscribers? They got pissed off and showed their anger by blowing up cellsites. But who knows? I already switched to SUN but unfortunately I dont have call buddies :( …. Who cares…. For TXTPower, any actions? any comments? any response? Just tell us the truth, if we already lost, it would be a nice thing to do rather that hiding in silence keeping us waiting for answers which in reality is none.

jerk_shop / March 17th, 2007, 6:47 pm

jerk_shop, i have been telling jobert not to keep endorsing cellsite burnings but you have a good point. what if they are globe subscribers and they were pissed off by globe.

hreynes / March 17th, 2007, 8:16 pm

i think i know why txtpower is so silent. the convenors are too busy attending to this thing about satur scampo. i’m always receiving text msgs from them about the latest on what’s happening with the guy.

i don’t know about you guys but i joined TXTPower solely as a way to air out my views against irresponsible telcos as well as get ideas what to do. with all due respect to mr. ocampo i do not share his views.

i guess actions against misbehaving telcos aren’t really TXTPower’s primary raison d’etre.

hreynes / March 17th, 2007, 8:26 pm

As regards the issue of the group’s main objective, it is clearly stated on our “About” page. Please don’t think that just because we cannot update the site as often as our members want, we have objectives different from what we’ve declared.

Tonyo Cruz, aside from being a TXTPower convenor, is also a media officer of Bayan Muna, Congressman Ocampo’s party.

Maraming salamat sa suporta. Please bear with us as we continue to think of ways to help our fellow texters. :)

Napakarami nilang pinaasa sa For Good “daw” na Unlimitxt nila tapos biglang babawain… The damage has been done…

louiemsp / March 18th, 2007, 8:38 pm

This war is over, we lost the battle mates. We cannot asure our victory its money were talkn here and money is powerful than moral. A three headed bill can change the tides of every moral inside NTC or even TXTPower. Lets face it we cant win against a big stubborn Telecommunications Company.

jerk_shop / March 19th, 2007, 10:01 pm

i guess it depends on your definition of loss, jerk_shop. consider this, though.

1) the continuing migration of globe subscribers to sun or smart. just today i know of two families who shifted to sun. in my work, i happen to pass by almost everyday one of the 3 sunshops in cebu. it’s always full. dati nilalangaw lang sila.

2) the apparent apathy of globe subscribers (former and current) to globe’s pathetic efforts to win them back with their new unlitxt promos. wala nang paki ang mga tao.

Maybe TXTPower was the catalyst now the effect is like an avalanche, unstoppable.

hreynes / March 19th, 2007, 10:34 pm

You are correct jerk_shop. This case is like the other cases that in the end these powerful telecoms are the winners. Henry don’t pour your heart to TEXTPower. Be sure before you sympathize to TEXTPower. Most Globe users are not aware of textpower’s activities. Yeah you are true that many Globe users are switching to other networks but they do it not just to support textpower. They did it as their choice. Most of them are not even aware of textpower. Try to ask others if they know textpower. You will find out that since 2001 until now, textpower is unknown for most of them. Textpower has no right to boast that they’ve been around since 2001. Consider these facts where you can weigh how TEXTPower are like BARKING STUPID DOGS.

1. Several years ago TEXTPower fought against Telecoms Giant Smart Communications and Globe Telecom. They insisted that there should be NO DROP CALL CHARGES. But did textpower win? Last laugh still belongs to Smart and Globe. Did Textpower continue to fight until now? The case ended in favor to Smart and Globe.

2. Last few months Textpower fought with Smart Communications. Textpower insisted that THERE SHOULD BE NO EXPIRATION ON FREE TEXTS OR THEY SHOULD HAVE LONGER VALIDITY. NTC issued Smart CDO but later Smart made an argument and it sticks to free texts expiration. Did Textpower continue to fight? The case ended and the last laugh belongs to Smart.

3. What happened to SmartBro Case? Still no development.

4. Smart Communications is stealing millions of prepaid loads daily. This case remains untouched. Does Textpower intervene on this?

5. the 2006-2007 release of SUN Cellular’s SIMS are not funtioning properly. They have no SIGNALS TO ALMOST 98% OF ALL PHONES. SUN CELLULAR IS CHEATING AND DECEIVING US THROUGH THOSE SIMS. Does textpower intervene on that?

6. A year ago Textpower defended Sun Cellular when Globe and Smart asked NTC to stop Sun’s 24/7. But Textpower fought for Sun. No recorded consumer protests during that time.

7. The case of Globe ended on feb 23, 2007. It will take a month on march 23. But last laugh belongs to Globe. Many have switched to other networks but its not the cause of textpower. Most of those Globe users are absolutely unaware of Textpower’s activities. They have just switched by their choice. Last laugh belongs to Globe.

So Henry the evidences are clear…TEXTPOWER NEVER MADE ANY VICTORY TO PROTECT THE COMSUMERS LIKE US. Look at Globe. It doesn’t even scare of NTC’s orders and power. Now it is very clear that powerful telecoms are dominant. TEXTPOWER IS ONLY GOOD IN WORDS. THEY ARE LIKE BARKING STUPID DOGS THAT ARE JUST ROAMING AROUND. Stupid dogs that came out of nowhere. Long live to Globe and Smart communications!!!!

jobert / March 20th, 2007, 7:12 pm

Looks like jobert has joined the ranks of people like michael delos reyes and redkinoko. He is now a Globe and Smart sympathizer. hahaha.

Well, jobert, if you feel like txtpower has not contributed to anything, well then don’t come back to the site anymore. You can look for other ways to address your grievances against Smart, Globe or Sun. As a matter of fact don’t be a cellphone user anymore since the way you put it, there’s no one to choose among the telcos anymore.

By the way, is there anyone else who can back up jobert’s story about sun sims? I haven’t heard anything about it here in cebu.

hreynes / March 21st, 2007, 7:51 am

ederic, would you care to respond to jobert’s post on TXTPOwer’s supposedly dismal performance?

IKAW? MAY PASENSYA KA BA?
MAY TIYAGA KA BA?
HANDA KA BANG MAGHINTAY?

O

BAKA KATULAD KA NG INVENTOR NA NASA KWENTO?

MAG-ISIP KA.

Jhay_StudentAffair / March 21st, 2007, 11:58 am

I am impressed by the extent of jobert’s vocabulary of swear words.

Like I said, if you no longer trust TXTPower, why do you still come to this site? You’ve already said that TXTPower is useless in #76 and #77 despite ederic’s post in #72.

hreynes / March 21st, 2007, 12:25 pm

before the talks collapsed I ask ANTHONY IAN CRUZ if what will happen if Globe will not accept the offer for the last time. that statement was posted on Feb 23, 2007. Today is March 21. How long is that NEXT WEEK? Baka nmn NEXT MONTH or NEXT YEAR and ibig nilang sabihin?

Txtpower said on its news “TALKS TO END TOMORROW: WILL GLOBE REMAIN STUBBORN? WHAT WILL NTC DO?” dated feb23, 2007

“There are two looming scenarios: The good, which is when and if Globe relents and accepts the TXTPower offer, will compel us to withdraw our legitimate complaint and restore some level of consumer confidence in Globe and the NTC. The chances for this good scenario are slim, so we hope that no one harbors illusions about it. Big corporations are unknown to have really good hearts for customers.

The bad outcome, which is when and if Globe rejects the offer and slaps every subscriber in the face with its stubborn insistence that nothing’s wrong or bad with the price increase, will be an unforgettable episode for Globe subscribers. What we consumers will do if this scenario happens is for Globe and the NTC to guess.”

But where is the hells is the other scenario?

To Jobert and Rollen. Sinasabi nyo na NTC visits this site also. Do you realize that its a tactical error to tell the enemy of what our moves are before making them? If TXTPower posts its moves don’t you think gagawa ng countermove ang Globe and NTC before TXTPower even starts?

It was also said by Senator Angara during our IT symposium at West Negros College Bacolod. He said “We are always encouraging PLDT and Globe Telecom to intensify the competition so that each of them will offer lowest rates services. As competition in the market is intense, telecoms services become cheaper”.

Yon lang kasimply. We will encourage Smart, Globe, and Sun Cellular to intensify the competition in the market.

Competition in the market are useful for us as consumers. Imagine before separated ang Landline fee at DSL or Broadband. Almost P2000/month ang babayaran mo. Ngayon alam mo ba kung magkano nalang?

PLDT offers Landline + PLDTmyDSL + FREE NDD with NGN (new genaration network facilities) for only P888/month.
Globe offers Landline + GlobeBroadband for only P995/month. Oh see???

jobert / March 21st, 2007, 7:17 pm

I myself am not a txtpower convenor. Yet I know the value of patience. We are not rabble rousers. We need to have carefully calculated and designed moves to win the fight.

Now, going to what Sen. Angara said about competition. Isn’t that the effect of our boycott of Globe accomplished? Perhaps they are already feeling the effects of the shift, thats why they are coming out with all these new promos. What Jobert and Rollen are expecting to happen is unrealistic. We have to look for our victories elsewhere and we have to learn how to recognize those victories.

For me, the fact that people are shifting to Sun or Smart is a significant victory. I know for a fact that TXTPower had a part in that. Ever heard of geometric progression? That’s what happened. TXTPower encouraged a boycott and encouraged us to spread the word. We did that. Jobert, you even posted blogsites where Globe’s idiotic moves were discussed. We also had our own share of media mileage with the Inquirer, ABS-CBN and others.

If that’s not enough for you that’s too bad. The victory that you’re looking for happens only in the movies. Total capitulation by Globe? Won’t happen. It’s simply a matter of hitting them where it hurts most, profits. Less subscribers, less profits. If TXTPower does come up with a victory that actually forces Globe to go back to its P50/5days plan then that would be a sgnificant tactical and psychological victory.

In the meantime, I for one am actively campaigning among my friends for a total shift from Globe to Sun and I claim some success in this campaign. My Sun phone book is now filling up with Sun numbers. I wonder if I should apply for a job with Sun?

hreynes / March 21st, 2007, 7:36 pm

Kuya as I said kahit wala ang TXTPower or it did not exist in the first place, most subscribers of Globe will really switch to other networks. They have shifted without even knowing the boycott. Don’t forget that the boycott was not even published to news papers news. It was only available on the web where only handful of people have accessed it. Well regarding the victory that you are assuming us that it is we long for, you are wrong. We are just displeased by TXTPower’s unrealible words. This stupid dogs are trying to scare thier enemies through casting unfulfilled words. Anthony Ian Cruz told me to JUNK my Globe SIM but he did not even junk his own SIM. TXTpower declared boycott and encouraged us to find other ways to communicate but they themselves still used their own Globe SIMs during that time. TXTpower mentioned to do the NEXT STEP NEXT WEEK but the case of Globe will be 2 months this April 1. Sana bago sila bumitaw ng salita they should firm that they themselves will comply it as well.

jobert / March 21st, 2007, 7:55 pm

If you think you you can do better then go ahead. Let’s see what you can do.

hreynes / March 21st, 2007, 8:26 pm

As I said competition in the market is the best way to lower the rates of telecom services. That’s true between Globe and PLDT other services. Look at Globe. It lowered it’s unlitxt80 from 4 days to 5 days. It will lower soon if it sees that Smart is ahead in terms of the number of subscribers. As I know Smart now is more than 3 times the total number of Globe Handyphone subscribers

jobert / March 21st, 2007, 8:36 pm

But you are barking at the wrong tree. You are actually loudly barking at the wrong tree. We wish to train your words at NTC and Globe (and other telcos as well), and spare the forums of your hysterical comments.

The NTC up to now allows Globe to spit on its orders and directives. That’s not our fault. But even so, we diplomatically asked the NTC to do something about it.

Reliable sources have revealed to us of the big impact of the boycott campaign against Globe. We think no one disputes this. That is enough of a victory at this stage. We tried but failed to obtain a rollback, but that is because the rules are tilted heavily against consumers.

Since the group was formed in 2001, no one in TXTPower has surrendered in any battle that we waged. Consistent consumer support helped us each time, and we credit these expressions of solidarity as always the key factors.

Now, we cannot satisfy everyone’s expectations, high or low. The consumer movement is still young and the field is so spacious that some of you may really wish to discover the joys and pains of setting up an organization like TXTPower. Its always an option to form groups, and we would most happily welcome new ones.

TXTPower / March 21st, 2007, 8:38 pm

You’re evading the topic, jobert. I challenged you to do something not quote industry figures or try to interpret them. Now, if you have nothing to constructive to contribute to TXTPower then do something!! Form your own group, mag-rally ka sa NTC or whatever. Then if you have success bumalik ka dito at ipakita mo sa amin ang results ng actions mo.

hreynes / March 21st, 2007, 8:47 pm

Now you are barking at me. I’m not in the wrong tree. In fact I’m on my way to awake you. Now you wake up from long hibernation TXTPower. Good eve… Is criticizing you the only way to notice us? Your faults are not concealed to many. Don’t be boastful. There are so many cases that until now you are reluctant to touch. Look at those cases that I have mentioned on my previous commnents. They will serve as mirrors to let you know how dogmatic you are. Make yourselves believe on the things which in fact set you back.

jobert / March 21st, 2007, 8:48 pm

Jobert, if you are going to use metaphors. at least don’t mix them up. I’m not in the wrong tree?

dogmatic - According to the Merriam-Webster online dictionary dogmatic means “characterized by or given to the expression of opinions very strongly or positively as if they were facts ” That actually describes you, not TXTPower. You strongly express opinions as if they were facts. Wala ka namang ginawa kundi magreklamo lang.

hreynes / March 21st, 2007, 9:04 pm

Dogmatic nga sila kuya eh. They keep on believing that they have done a good cause. I’m not good in english. I’m only good in Math kuya.

jobert / March 21st, 2007, 9:09 pm

Hay uwi na nga ako kuya. Sige ingat ka sa work mo kuya…Bye bye for now…

jobert / March 21st, 2007, 9:15 pm

Meron pang isang bagay na magaling ks, jobert. magreklamo na wala namang ma-contribute. o ano, do you already have a plan on what to do besides complain?

hreynes / March 21st, 2007, 9:17 pm

TXTPower, it’s not the lack of action that’s bothering us. If you read my post earlier I understand the logic of not telegraphing your moves to the enemy by posting them on a public site.

What we really would like are more interaction from you or atudent or ederic or tonyo or any of the other convenors. your silence is easily misconstrued as inaction, you see.

hreynes / March 21st, 2007, 9:25 pm

its easy not to misconstrue. just don’t do it. don’t misconstrue.

TXTPower / March 21st, 2007, 10:07 pm

well that was entertaining… wala na bang reply si jobert? jobert, wag ka namang mag-flood, its annoying enough to read your posts once.

Are you OK aRC? It’s my first time to know that telling the truth is annoying. Mag-isip ka nga… use your sound judgement. May I ask you if what happaned to the ff cases?

DROP CALL CHARGES
SMART FREE TEXT EXPIRATION
SMARTBRO CASE
GLOBE UNLI RATE HIKE OR GLOBE UNLITXT

Does txtpower continue to fight these cases? Hello!!! The cases ended already. Mag-isip ka nga…

I would like to quote txtpower’s comment found at no. 101
“We tried but failed to obtain a rollback, but that is because the rules are tilted heavily against consumers.

Isn’t it that the reason why we always vitit on this site is that we want to know the development of the unlitxt issue? We visit here to know if the rollback fought by TXTPower has chance to win. This is what jerk_shop pointed out. Natalo na tayo. Pro ano ang ginawa ng TXTPower? Pinaasa lang tayo hindi sila nag-uupdate whether the fight is still going on and lately inamin rin nila na nadisappoint sila.

Now what would you want me to feel towards TXTPower disappointment and unfulfilled words? Be happy for if if you can

as usual, jobert is showing his ignorance in the field of consumer rights.

If we have some ads sa TV, Radio, Newspapers, or even the WEB.

jerk_shop / March 24th, 2007, 12:13 pm

good point jerk_shop.

TXTPower, what sayest thou?

hreynes / March 24th, 2007, 12:50 pm

jed, i do believe i know what’s between those two ugly little things at the sides of your raisin-sized head that by the hardest stretch of the imagination can hardly be called ears - the whole content of Payatas.

I guess I shouldn’t be surprised by the quality (or lack thereof) of your posts. It’s all garbage and filth.

you are simply showing your true nature by those posts. the funny thing is its you we are laughing at. keep us entertained. after all, that’s your only value in that pathetic little life of yours.

hreynes / March 26th, 2007, 4:39 pm

Hahaha. Nakakatuwa ka TXTPower!!! Bkt masakit ba na sinusumbatan kna? Binura mo lahat ng comments na against you. You feel being belittled by those posts. Well admit it or not, the facts are facts and they cannot be hidden. Pati news about Globe binura mo. Hehehehe. nakakahiya ba?

rollen / March 27th, 2007, 8:22 am

News about Globe!!! Ang galing nila!!! Ito TXTPower burahin mo ulit!!! Baka nakalimutan mo na nasa 10 discussions mo rin ang tungkol sa good news that UNLITXT80 is now for 5 days? Sige burahin mo rin to.

rollen is right… GLOBE is incomparable with respect to their service(s)… although the issue about the increase of their unlimitxt service, mura pa rin ung if you are into a heavy texter… i must admit, na-inis din ako, but if i have to count the texts i sent, i would consider na sulit ko pa rin ang offer nila.. pero guys out there, i cant blame you if you fel bad about the issue on globe unlimitxt.. then i symphatizd you… but that’s different issue, if you compare other network to Globe….

rorafu / March 27th, 2007, 9:45 am

You are in the wrong move TXTPower in motivating others to switch to other networks. Why? Pinaasa mo ang mga supporters mo that you will fight for the Rollback of UNLIMITXT but iniwan mo rin sila ng nadis-appoint kayo. You are motivating others to switch to other networks but others are now going back to use Globe. Smart has very very poor services and Sun too has very very poor services that’s why they prefer Globe kahit mahal. Hahaha kahit kayo you are still using your Globe SIMs

rollen / March 27th, 2007, 9:47 am

rollen, i think you need to review your math.

To review:

Globe is offering unlimited Globe-to-Globe texting for 5 days at P80. Thats P16/day

Smart is offering 100 txt messages to ALL networks good for 24hrs at P35.

Sun is offering 30 days unlimited Sun-Sun texting PLUS 4 hours free calls Sun-Sun for P150. Thats P5/day.

The above plans represent only one of the several each telco is offering.

Between the 3, smart has the widest coverage. But for those in major cities with Sun coverage, the best deal is still Sun. In Cebu City, Sun coverage could be characterized as good. That’s why in Cebu, at least Globe subscribers as well as Smart subscribers are shifting to Globe. (And definitely not reverting to Globe). I’m very satisfied with my Sun postpaid line and 3 prepaid lines.

Sure, Sun has the weakest coverage but its the youngest of the 3. I remember when Globe was new, they only had coverage in Makati and when you move to Cubao, the signal disappears.

Rollen, just one question. How much is Globe paying you to be their mouthpiece? The only reason I can think of that TXTPower is retaining somne of your posts is that they provide comic entertainment for us other members.

hreynes / March 27th, 2007, 7:51 pm

Rorafu, your posts are sane, logical and well-presented. Even if I have to disagree with you, it was a pleasure to read your post.

Now if only Rollen has the same maturity level you have shown.

hreynes / March 27th, 2007, 8:20 pm

@hreynes (post 117)
“That’s why in Cebu, at least Globe subscribers as well as Smart subscribers are shifting to Globe.”

you mean shifting to SUN, right? i agree, most people i know here in cebu (city) are shifting to sun, ayo ko lang mag-sun kasi pumupunta ako sa bahay namin sa danao at carcar. may signal nga siguro paminsan-minsan, hirap naman humanap ng load.

BTW, the post were probably deleted because they were not constructive - posting as SMART, GLOBE o NTC is so immature, puro reklamo, ala namang nagawa para makatulong kaya di umaasenso. i don’t know kung anong ‘good news’ about globe na post ang binura, pero gaya nang sabi nyo - walang nakakaalam tungkol sa txtpower o sa site na to, so okay lang yan, wala namang babasa nun di ba..?

Ahuh. Wawa ka nmn Hreynes. The fact that many switched to other networks is mediocre. Why? Most Globe users are now coming back home. Globe users conider Smart and Sun as thier dilemma. Smart 258 and its system have veryu very poor services. Sun Cellular on the other hand has the poorest services despite it has unlimited call offers. Do you know how many are Sun users? Only half of the total number of Globe handyphone users! Now do you know why most are not attracted by Sun? Cellphone users do not considers primarily the expenses or the cost but they consider the quality services of telco. No wonder that most prefer to remain in Globe

Tanga ka kasi hindi mo tinanggap yon arguing that it still shows hike on rates.

Rollen, you’ll have to excuse us poor folks who are not as rich as you are who can afford expensive services like those of Globe. Maybe you live in Forbes Park? Maybe you eat only steak and potatoes while the rest of us eat fried fish and sinangag? Whatever you are, you obviously have lots of money. While we ordinary folks are trying to get the most of our hard-earned money.

You also obviously also didn’t read properly my post in #117 when you talk abt Sun. Please read it again and this time try to understand what you’re reading, ok?

Now, if you really think Globe is perfect, stay there. Its your right to spend your own money however it pleases you and leave us poor folks to fight for our rights. By the way, if Smart is so poor in service, why do they have 25million subscribers already while Globe has a lot less? Last I heard they had abt 12million.

aRC, you are correct,

“That’s why in Cebu, at least Globe subscribers as well as Smart subscribers are shifting to Globe.”

I actually meant shifting to Sun. Sorry for the typo error.

“By the way, if Smart is so poor in service, why do they have 25million subscribers already while Globe has a lot less? Last I heard they had abt 12million.”

LMAO, you forgot - he’s not good with math!

tama ka, i’ve been with smart ever since my high school days at wala akong reklamo. okay naman yung unlimited texting nila. at tunay na leader in innovations - nauna yung smart money kaysa gcash.

aRC / March 28th, 2007, 2:12 pm

Rollen, what else do you call someone who uses services wihout paying for it? What else do you call someone who takes something without paying for it?

At any rate, like I said before kung masaya ka sa Globe sino ba naman ako para sabihin sayo na lumipat ka. In my case, my contacts are mostly Sun already and malakas ang signal ang Sun sa Cebu so it makes no sense for me to go back to Globe and pay for their expensive rates when Sun’s rates are so much better. Like I also said, its also true that Sun’s services are limited but thats only because they’re the youngest of the 3. Don’t worry, at the rate people in Cebu are shifting to Sun, it won’t be long before Cebu will be called Sun country.

Each to his own lang yan Rollen. You have the right to go where you’re happy, the same goes with the rest of us. The problem with you is that you resort to childish ways when you encounter anyone who doesn’t happen to agree with your point of view. Look at Rorafu’s post in #115. He actually agrees with you. The difference is, he respects those who don’t share his point of view and doesn’t resort to insults, name-calling and swearing.

hreynes / March 29th, 2007, 2:28 pm

okay, first of all:
wala akong reklamo sa smart, kaka-activate nga lang ng unlimited ko, wala ring nananakaw na load sa akin, at masaya ako sa mga rewards ng smart money.

second (to review your math, 2 is after 1):
FBT (free browsing technique) ho yan. maraming nakaka-alam tungkol dyan (oo, di ka special), maroon ding ganyan sa smart. kaya nga madaling naaayos ang mga security holes dahil sa mga n00b na kagaya mo. daldal nang daldal, wala naman talagang alam!

ang hacker ho ay:
d.] mga cultural hackers who attained respect from peers.
e.] mga noob - kaw yan.

lastly, stop bastading the english language. mag tagalog ka nalang

aRC / March 29th, 2007, 2:52 pm

bastarding pala

aRC / March 29th, 2007, 2:57 pm

What do you think?
