Filipinos use ringtone to protest poll fraud by president
GMA to Garci: Hello Garci. Pasahan mo naman ako ng load, este, vote.
TXTPower has urged widest, fastest dissemination of Hello Garci ringtones nationwide in support of the demand for Mrs. Arroyo to speak about the controversial telephone conversation between her and Comelec commissioner Virgilio Garcillano.
Joining the growing movement critical of Mrs. Arroyo, TXTPower has made available on its website at www.txtpower.org the Hello Garci ringtones.
TXTPower convenor Anthony Ian Cruz said that “’pasa-ringtone’ and ‘pasa-load’ are perfectly legal. Pasa-vote or vote theft, especially that involving the president herself, is a high crime.”
Cruz said that TXTPower convenors would be joining future rallies and forums in schools, offices, communities and even in tiangges to distribute free ringtones via infrared and bluetooth to all those interested. “Just look for the TXTPower banner.”
“The Hello Garci ringtones express widespread disgust over GMA’s obvious poll fraud. She should fear a nation mocking her through rapidly spreading ringtones and text jokes jokes because such were the first signs of success of the oust-Estrada movement that eventually toppled her predecessor,” Cruz explained.
He said that the TXTPower website would soon feature text jokes “ready for copying and use by simple citizens, the media and those who would like to have immense fun during parties nd gatherings.”
TXTPower also advised Raul Gonzales to “just quit as justice secretary.”
According to the group, “Secretary Gonzales is now the new Attorney No-Case.”
“He is trying to fool the public. How can passing CDs and ringtones be illegal when GMA, who is widely acknowledged as the owner of the female voice, has not pressed charges. Neither has Garcillano. According to our lawyers, no matter how much he loves GMA, he simply cannot file the charges himself,” said Cruz.
