D-Day today Feb 20: Will Globe keep hardline stance?

All eyes and ears will be on Globe Telecom’s representatives at 2:00 pm today Feb. 20 at the NTC where the company is expected to formally announce its decision on the offer of TXTPower in exchange for the dropping of the complaint over the unlimited texting price increase.

The NTC have given Globe until today to make a final decision on the ongoing conciliatory talks, after the commissioners held closed-door meetings with the company’s lawyers and TXTPower convenors last Feb. 9.

If Globe decides to restore the old rates, TXTPower will withdraw its complaint and no hearings will be necessary. If the company refuses TXTPower’s offer, formal hearings will commence.

Globe-friendly NTC Deputy Commissioner Jaime Fortes Jr. presided over the second meeting on Feb. 14 which produced no positive result. In the meeting, Fortes repeatedly spoke on behalf of Globe lawyers and admitted hosting the company representatives in his office.

“Each day that Globe refuses to rollback prices, more and more subscribers lost trust and confidence in the company and cements its reputation as a violator of consumer rights, and shows disrespect for those who made possible Globe’s rise as a top telco,” said a TXTPower statement issued today.

“The entire nation also witnessed how Globe continues to defy and violate the Feb. 5 order of the NTC Commissioner and the Feb. 7 cease-and-desist order of the NTC En Banc. It hides behind a motion for reconsideration that has not been granted by the NTC,” TXTPower said.

TXTPower said it is ready to face Globe in a formal hearing at the NTC.

“We’ve been fighting for consumer rights since Aug. 2001, and there are more things to do. We vow to fight all sorts of abuses by telcos and expose neglect by government,” said TXTPower.

good luck! hope everything goes well, but as history may suggest - probably not.

but i’m not losing all hope, even if globe wins this round (again), in time they’ll lose subscribers anyway (thats when we win).

more power!

they might employ the delay tactic again…
I’m of course hoping that they rollback their unlimitxt prices but in my mind I think they won’t because they are too big/rich and aren’t afraid of taking us head on in formal hearings- GLOBE SUCKS!!!

Jhay_StudentAffair / February 20th, 2007, 9:10 am

Godspeed guys.

A reliable source says that the volume of subscribers to Unlimitxt did not come down after the new rates, what’s worse, it may have increased… That is why Globe is hesistant to listen to us… I hate to look pessimistic but I really think that Globe is just laughing at us now and I think no favorable results will come out today.. Oh Well! I’m still hopeful that the last laugh will be from our side…!

ano na kaya ang nangyayari sa Hearing?????

jobert / February 20th, 2007, 3:48 pm

i think if ever we lose the battle to GLOBE we shoul file a complaint in DTI for they are abusing the consumers and we as consumers have the right to appeal

ronnie / February 20th, 2007, 4:10 pm

baka ayaw parin ng Globe? Kasi kung my good news nakapost na sana ang txtpower…

jobert / February 20th, 2007, 4:26 pm

Hay tinitxt ko si sir anthony pro hanggang ngayon hindi pa xa nagrereply

jobert / February 20th, 2007, 4:32 pm

Baka matagal ung hearing.. Hope we win! tagal ntn ngantay eh..

Clive / February 20th, 2007, 4:36 pm

the source mentioned by blue_ferret is probably pro-Globe. I for one have been asking my friends who are Globe users and they have either shifted to Smart or are not using unlitext. If they are using unlitxt they do so sparingly.

If others continue to use unlitxt regularly, it’s probably because they don’t know that therees an alternative to suffering Globe’s unreasonable rates. They probably don’t know about TXTPower and our protest. Let’s tell more people about our struggle against corporate greed.

Over na talaga ang globe ano? How I wish gagapang sila sa pagsisisi!!!

jobert / February 20th, 2007, 4:43 pm

i think TXTPower is giving Globe a hard time. That’s why the hearing is taking a long time and not like last Feb. 14 when the meeting lasted only 30 minutes

hreynes / February 20th, 2007, 4:48 pm

Globe greediness will bring DREADFUL NIGHTMARE TO ITSELF. Most of its subscribers nawalan na ng tiwala….Kahit magrollback pa sila hindi na maibabalik ang nasirang tiwala ng mga subscribers

jobert / February 20th, 2007, 5:01 pm

I don’t think Globe’s been following that NTC hold order anyway. They’re still charging the new rates…

tecbarrera / February 20th, 2007, 6:51 pm

7pm na wla pa ding balita..

ndi maganda to..

tiNka / February 20th, 2007, 7:10 pm

tiNka,let’s keep the flame burning. TXTPower, don’t keep us in suspense.

hreynes / February 20th, 2007, 7:30 pm

See the latest thread in the forums po.

Ederic / February 20th, 2007, 7:30 pm

Ederic has info that Globe has offered P100 for 6 days unlimited texting. That’s in effect P16/day. Still an unacceptable increase. TXTPower did not accept the offer.

But the fact that Globe is proposing a counter offer is a sign that Globe is caving in.

hreynes / February 20th, 2007, 7:48 pm

Almost 9pm na! wala pa rin bang balita?

Clive / February 20th, 2007, 8:52 pm

ANO BANG SILBI NG NTC! garapalan na pang aabuso ng globe!
