This is not a case of siding either with the telcos or the government. The problem here is that we consumers stand to bear the brunt of the text tax regardless of what provisions are edited in or out of the law.

Given the deregulated nature of the telecommunications industry, there is no way the government will be able to track whether the telcos are shifting the weight of the tax onto the shoulders of texters.

Let Us Not Be The Protector Of Telecom!
Let them pay additional taxes.

Telecoms are fooling us. Text Tax is not anti-poor if they will shoulder it, as proposed. Telecoms do not want to pay taxes, bringing to court the municipalities and cities which are asking them (Telecom) to pay Local Taxes.

TANDAAN NATIN YAN.

IS TEXT OVERTAX OR SIMPLY OVERPRICED?

Text is overpriced. Despite the claims of telcos that they are paying a lot of taxes, they are still making a lot of money. It is obviously because it is overpriced. Telecoms are raking in NET INCOME OF OVER 37BIllion/year. This is over 100,000,000 (P100Million) PER DAY NET INCOME.
Consumers must not always says no everytime tax is mentioned. Just find a way that the richest and high earners will shoulder it. In this case, let the NTC mandate a maximum price per text, say 50cents or P80cents. Let us not easily believe the telcos. Remember, they are the one that charged us P1.00 per text when it was free before. Price only went down when SUN Cellular introduced unlimited text. But still, prices (of Globe and Smart) are still very high.

I know some cellphone load dealers and distributors, they are not paying the right amount of tax. THEY ARE NOT ISSUING ANY RECEIPTS EVEN IF THEY SELL MILLIONS PER DAY. TEXT METERING will be a lot of help in preventing tax leakages.

LET THE OVERCHARGING TELCOS PAY THE TAXES.

ASK THE NTC TO DO ITS JOB IN PROTECTING CONSUMERS.

SUPPORT TEXT TAX AND TEXT METERING
