We have fought and continue to fight for a rollback of Globe’s unlimited texting rates and, after Globe scuttled the negotiations, the NTC dismissed our case.

But the truth is that we consumers scored two victories.

Our first victory: That Globe entered into settlement talks and made the two offers (100 pesos for six days, and then 90 pesos for six days) are solid proof to our assertion that Globe may and can at any time restore the old prices if it wants to. A rollback is indeed possible.

But obviously, Globe just does not want to restore the old Unlimitxt rates mainly because of whim and caprice. Ayaw lang talaga nila, at hindi dahil sa imposible itong gawin. Globe was lying in claiming that no price reduction or rollback is possible

Sa totoo lang pala, Globe can and may implement its P90 for six days offer immediately. Globe can and may even rollback prices.

Our second victory: We showed that consumers’ collective action is superior to a negligent and incompetent NTC. The NTC approved Unlitxt without thinking and when we told them something was wrong, the agency issued orders against Globe but failed miserably to enforce them. Simply put, the NTC allowed Globe to impose a price increase and did not do practically anything to stop it. Today, the NTC dismissed our complaint based on Globe’s motion to dismiss. How Globe-friendly and anti-consumer can the NTC get?

We now raise three questions: Will Globe rollback its prices? Will the NTC correct its error and save consumers from Globe? Will we stop fighting?
