In a press conference at Mundial restaurant along Tomas Morato Avenue, a group of mobile phone users today launched TXTPOWER and issued a texters� declaration assailing the planned reduction in free text messages, lousy and expensive services and cartel operations of Smart Communications and Globe Telecoms.

TXTPOWER Spokesperson Anthony Ian Cruz said that texters are not at all happy over the cutbacks on free text for all Smart and Globe subscribers. Read the rest of this entry »

Young mobile phone users who helped oust President Estrada have a new target: the big telecommunication companies whom they call “profiteers”.

“We feel disempowered and cheated at the same time. Disempowered because they are actually putting a high price on using text messaging that has become a tool for communication and social change. Cheated because Globe and Smart are issuing outrageous statements to back up the scheduled reduction in free text allocations,” said Anthony Ian Cruz, spokesperson of TXTPOWER.
